Detonate, Pyroklast, and Favela Rising at Memory Lanes

Hardcore punk is a much more diverse genre than a lot of folks realize at first: It can be catchy, fun, melodic, and technically complex, incorporating outside sounds and a broad range of attitudes. And If you’re Madison band Pyroklast, it can also offer some of the most unrepentantly fucking nasty, gut-level expression this side of an axed-open ribcage. That said, it’s not easy to hold together thrashing crust-punk songs like “No More Bullshit,” from the band’s The Crisis Has Begun EP, whose cover features skulls and assault rifles piled around an oil derrick.
