DJ Spooky - CANCELLED at Varsity Theater
Note: This show has been cancelled. Ticket refunds are available at point of purchase.
Paul D. Miller—a.k.a. DJ Spooky—is the thinking dork’s disc jockey. A formative influence on mid-’90s illbient sounds—particularly with his 1996 LP Songs Of A Dead Dreamer—Miller has borrowed elements of electronica, jazz, punk, and even go-go across his prolific career. Though he’s worked as a producer, award-show judge, and even soundtrack composer, it’s as DJ Spooky that Miller really gets to play. His newest album, The Secret Song (released earlier this week), features appearances by Thurston Moore and Rob Swift along with arrangements by soundtrack composer Graham Reynolds for a cumulative commentary on digital culture.
