D.R.U.G.S., Hit The Lights, Like Moths To Flames, and Sparks The Rescue at Varsity Theater
A few years removed from his tenure with Chiodos, Craig Owens remains a mainstay amongst a concentrated but loyal group of post-hardcore fans. Some of those fans have grown out of the screaming and the mosh pits, opting instead for post-rock acts like Battles or Explosions In The Sky, while others have seemingly resolved to go down with the scene, resigned to becoming the oldest person at those hardcore shows. Owens himself seems to stand in some weird limbo between the two, while subtly evolving just the same with D.R.U.G.S. The acronym stands for Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows. Divine proclamations notwithstanding, destruction and rebuilding within that framework is just what Owens does with this group, which, despite lackluster lyrics, is his most daring project yet.
