Dylan Hicks And The Toughies at Red Stag Supperclub
In a lot of ways, Dylan Hicks represents the end goal for most music heads. Back in the 1990s, when Hicks was still writing music on the reg, he had a fair following in the Twin Cities. And when he shifted gears, leaving making music behind to write about it for such publications as The Village Voice and The New York Times, Hicks’ reputation as a record collector and avid music fan made the change a logical one. So, now, with the upcoming release of Hicks’ new novel (Boarded Windows) twinning the release of his fourth album (Sings Bolling Greene), we’re witnessing the ultimate marriage of these two worlds. With the poppy, lyrically sound single “West Texas Winds” leading the pack, Hicks’ dual releases are worth getting excited about.
