Four Nights In Loring: Juno + Mayda at Loring Park
Say what you want about Diablo Cody’s overly arch dialogue: Those cutesy quips won the first-time screenwriter an Academy Award. Underneath Juno's one-liners lies a refreshingly original story about teen pregnancy that never passes judgment on its protagonist. Knocked-up teen Juno (Ellen Page) chooses a couple—type-A go-getter Jennifer Garner and sad rocker wannabe Jason Bateman—to adopt her baby. But as their lives intertwine, questions arise about who among them is truly mature enough to raise a child. Add J.K. Simmons and Allison Janney as Juno’s parents, and you have an ensemble cast that’s able to get away with even the most ostentatious lines. It screens here as part of the Four Nights In Loring movie series preceded by a set from local soul-pop singer Mayda.
