Well, now that that’s out of the way, how about Gospel Gossip? The trio revels in airy atmospherics and forceful contrasts, with a sound that’s equal parts shoegaze and shitstorm. It’s a volatile blend, and it’s Gospel Gossip’s great fortune that vocalist Sarah Nienaber’s pixie howl prevents the band’s songs from crashing to the ground—or, occasionally, from floating away.
