Halloween, Alaska, Haley Bonar, and Hildur Victoria at Cedar Cultural Center

The members of electronica-tinged indie-rock group Halloween, Alaska are all involved with other notable projects, most notably drummer Dave King’s longtime stints in The Bad Plus and Happy Apple. For its third disc, Champagne Downtown, the Minnesota-based, comma-friendly group enlisted Grammy-winning producer/engineer Tchad Blake to help draw out its sound, which is disarmingly spare but filled with subtle textures. The band co-headlines a two-night stand at the Cedar with folkie singer-songwriter Haley Bonar Nov. 27 and 28, which should be an excellent collision of complementary quiet styles. The show also marks the debut of Occasion: Remixes, a six-song EP featuring takes on Champagne songs by locals including Lookbook, No Bird Sing, and Tarlton that transmute them into spacier and more ethereal realms.
