Jagercon Sci-Fi Tuesdays: Star Wars Holiday Special at Clubhouse Jäger
Nobody should have been surprised, really, by the awfulness of the second Star Wars trilogy. It's not like The Star Wars Holiday Special didn't warn us. Only a year after releasing the space epic that would define not only his career but the Hollywood blockbuster itself, George Lucas flew the metaphorical X-wing right into the side of an asteroid with this colossally ill-conceived TV special. It's become a classic of unintentional comedy, featuring a bizarre extended sequence in which Chewbacca's family roars and honks at each other for several minutes, and Bea Arthur of The Golden Girls as the proprietor of the Mos Eisley cantina. Long disowned by Lucas, he finally released it on DVD in 2005.
