2007 American Idol winner Jordin Sparks has had some success on the Billboard dance charts, but it's fair to say she hasn't achieved the kind of superstar status that Idol has granted some of its alumni—which makes this year's edition of pop radio station KDWB's annual Jingle Ball a little underwhelming. (Kanye West headlined in 2007—at least, he was supposed to be before canceling that year.) She's joined here by a decent range of mainstream musicians, from Miami's radio-friendly reggaeton artist Pitbull to the innocuously lite Colbie Caillat to perky emo group Boys Like Girls. It's also a homecoming for "Fireflies" hitmaker Adam Young of Owl City; the Owatonna emo-pop songwriter has been touring America, China, and Japan behind his debut, Ocean Eyes, and is set to hit Europe and Australia next.
