    Lenny Kravitz at State Theatre

Anyone worried that rocker Lenny Kravitz has abandoned his guitar for acting gigs in Hollywood: Fret not. Blockbusters like Hunger Games may beckon Kravitz, but he's still a musician at heart. Instead of relying on his ’90s style of riffing, Kravitz juggles what made him popular with a new electronic sound that borders on hip-hop. Rap’s newest daddy Jay-Z even makes a guest appearance on his latest album, 2010’s Black And White America. The rocker’s entire discography has found an audience, so the drift in genre isn’t due to getting with the times, but rather sprung from his desire for self-evaluation and challenges. That need to remain musically relevant even while still culturally relevant is refreshing, to say the least.
