Lowertown Music Fest at Lowertown
The outdoor fests just don't stop. This one, at Fifth and Sibley in St. Paul, boasts some of Minnesota's most nationally recognized indie-rock names. Mason Jennings' mild-mannered appeal keeps him from blending in with the more hokey, polished singer-songwriters of his generation. On 2009's Blood Of Man, Jennings played all the instruments himself, giving a slightly rough, rocking feel to yet another likable set of tunes. Cloud Cult's Light Chasers won't hit stores until September, but fans can already enjoy the life-affirming orchestral pop by buying it online. Anxious indie-rockers Tapes 'N Tapes headed back to the studio in March to record their third album, though a release date has yet to be announced.
