Mark Farina at Epic
Mark Farina began his career as a DJ at Northwestern University (with partner Derrick Carter), but in the past decade he’s become nearly synonymous with the San Francisco music scene. His albums—including 2007’s Live In Tokyo and 2008’s contribution to the Fabric series, Fabric 40—push the boundaries of turntablism while making the technology and creative process more accessible to the average dance-music lover. Though known for deft mixes of acid-jazz and house, Farina also regularly pumps out downtempo Mushroom Jazz compilation albums, the sixth of which came out in 2008. He's announced new material in the offing for 2010.
