  • Sat Nov 7 9 pm,
Mark Mallman, The Alpha Centauri, and Total Babe at Turf Club

Between creating electronica remixes of Fleet Foxes with his band Ruby Isle and composing for film trailers, Twin Citian Mark Mallman somehow found time to record the new Invincible Criminal, his first solo record since 2006’s Between The Devil And Middle C. (Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn guests on “You’re Never Alone In New York.”) He's also written a companion piece, The Incredible Urban Myth Of The Invincible Criminal, a mock-serious tale of a semi-psychotic rocker that he's releasing first as a downloadable audiobook before a comic-book version comes out next year. But where Mallman really shines is the over-the-top showmanship of his live show, straddling his piano like a postmodern love colossus and belting out his arena-ready rock ballads like his life depends on it.
