A Musical Salute To Bruce Allen: The Suburbs, The Suicide Commandos, X-Boys at First Avenue

When guitarist Bruce Allen died in December following complications from triple bypass surgery, the Twin Cities lost a great artist. Founded by Allen and four of his friends in 1977, The Suburbs found their place in the local music scene with a catchy fusion of new-wave pop, punk, funk, and dance music that combined the suavity of Roxy Music, the manic energy of Iggy Pop, and the offbeat humor of Devo. Allen was also a talented graphic designer whose work included the cover of The Replacements' Let It Be and his own band's iconic logo. After The Suburbs broke up, Allen formed X-Boys with Suicide Commandos guitarist Chris Osgood. At this special show, all three bands will take the stage to pay tribute to their friend.
