Sea Wolf, Port O'Brien, and Sara Lov at 7th Street Entry
The understated indie pop on Sea Wolf’s debut EP, Get To The River Before It Runs Too Low, helped the band overcome the dubious distinction of being the 1,500th “Wolf” band to emerge in the past few years—a fact that Sea Wolf’s mastermind Alex Brown Church, formerly of indie-rock act Irving, isn’t afraid to joke about. Demonstrating that the EP wasn’t a fluke, Sea Wolf proved its worth with last year’s Leaves In The River, an album with a swaying, Fleetwood Mac quality to it and songs catchy enough to sing along to (especially “You’re A Wolf”). This year, the band wrote a song on the audio book for Augusten Burroughs’ recent A Wolf At The Table: A Memoir Of My Father.
