Sia and Body Language at Fine Line Music Cafe
Sia has a personality that’s a lot bigger than any of her albums would suggest. The Aussie-born U.K. transplant—and onetime guest vocalist for Zero 7—is an energetic performer with an evocative vocal range that can gracefully transfer from symphonic, forlorn ballads to quirky, new-wave dance-pop. She’s released several diverse albums over the last few years to minor successes, including 2008’s Some People Have Real Problems. But the overarching critique has (unfortunately) remained the same: Sia is a rough diamond that has yet to really shine. Her fifth studio effort, this year’s We Are Born, is slated for release in June, and the title may just prove to be prophetic.
