Sound Unseen: R.E.M.: This Is Not A Show at Cedar Cultural Center
It's good to see a film festival as consistently compelling and cool as Sound Unseen reach its 10-year milestone in 2009. As always, there's a solid selection of concert films and music documentaries on the docket. The fest kicks off with R.E.M.: This Is Not A Show, capturing the Athens, Ga., alt-rock royalty live in Dublin in 2007. Director Vincent Moon and longtime R.E.M. manager Bertis Downs will conduct a Q&A after the screening. Also on tap through the weeklong series: Non-Stop: Gogol Bordello, a behind-the-scenes look at the gypsy-punk band, and Died Young, Stayed Pretty, Eileen Yaghoobian's documentary on rock posters. For complete schedule info, see soundunseen.com.
