State Radio and Dovekins at Fine Line Music Cafe
A band that peddles the sort of roots-reggae appropriated by punks who identify with its rebellious manner, State Radio built up a sizeable following before doing much in the way of recording. In 2006, the Massachusetts group—which ex-Dispatch member Chad Urmston formed in 2002—put out a strong debut full-length, Us Against The Crown, following it up with 2007’s Year Of The Crow. The new Let It Go keeps the boil on the band's progressive political message while confidently exploring new aspects of its defining reggae/folk/punk sound.
