Tony Lucca, Dick Prall, and Matt Duke at 7th Street Entry
Tony Lucca won the Los Angeles Music Award for male singer-songwriter in 2001, and has spent the past eight years trying to reclaim that same level of recognition. His soft, surreal ballads evoke the solitude of open, silent spots left untouched by society. Though a few tracks have been known to fall a little out of step—Lucca’s hints of politics and neo-hippie lyrics of love might be better packaged somewhere else—he’s found a strange way of making unfamiliar places seem personal.
