Profile
Keith Phipps (editor, @kphipps3000) grew up in a suburb of Dayton, Ohio. His near-complete lack of interest in, or aptitude for, outdoor activities eventually developed into a passion for reading, film, and music. He began his entertainment-writing career as a film critic for the Northmont Junior High School's weekly newspaper The T-Bolt Tribune, where a pan of the inexplicably popular film Teen Wolf did little to improve his social standing. After receiving a BA from Wittenberg University and an English MA from the University Of Wisconsin-Madison, he began an exciting career as a video-store clerk and freelance writer. This eventually led to full-time employment at The A.V. Club, although he would be happy to charge you late fees for old times' sake. Keith lives in Chicago with his wife, their daughter, a cat, and a generally friendly dog.

The Story Of G.I. Joe (1945)
Watching that doc on Wellman made me want to see WILD BOYS OF THE ROAD. It looks great.

[1] I goofed on the Meredith detail. Change made. (And I should see that version of OF MICE AND MEN.)[2] True. That's detailed in the film.[3] Also true. I first saw this on VHS in the '90s ...

The Woman In Black
And, if you look closely, the guy who hung himself on the set of THE WIZARD OF OZ makes a cameo.

I think you can make a decent horror film within the limits of a PG-13 rating. Off the top of my head I'd offer the RING remake and INSIDIOUS.

Definitely. Worth watching that and THE GREAT ROCK AND ROLL SWINDLE as a double feature. And then wonder how the same guy did both.

Can you name the ABCs of ’70s film?
No. (Assuming we got it right here.)
