Back in May of 2007, we did an Inventory on “truly sad summer songs,” which featured the likes of Joni Mitchell, RJD2, The Beach Boys, and more. It did not, however, include Roger Miller’s “In The Summertime,” a peppy little number about heartbreak that alludes to those cold, lonely days of winter. This installment of Summer Undercover makes up for that Inventory oversight, as Undercover all-star Eef Barzelay of Clem Snide and Chris Otepka of Heligoats—who did Bryan Adams’ “Summer Of ’69” last time—return to the top of the High Concept Labs building in Chicago.
