Chumped covers The Crystals
About This Episode

The history of The Crystals’ “He’s A Rebel” is complicated. Though the song was actually recorded by The Blossoms, it was Phil Spector’s desire to be the first producer to the song that would lead to the song becoming a hit when he attached The Crystals name to it. That strange history aside, “He’s A Rebel” remains an iconic track, and here New York “bummer punk” band Chumped puts its own spin on the iconic track. The band stopped by while on tour supporting its excellent debut Teenage Retirement, which is available through Anchorless Records.
