Singer-songwriter Kelly Hogan tended bar at the Hideout for many years--at least when she wasn't too busy making records and/or touring with a multitude of people and bands, most notably her pal Neko Case. (The two also had funny voice bits on an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.) Hogan be part of the upcoming A.V. Fest/Hideout Block Party in September as well, so we figured it'd be fun to have her assemble her current band on the bar's front porch. Hogan chose a fantastic summer anthem to play for us: The Hold Steady's "Constructive Summer," from 2008's Stay Positive. Hogan's newest record, I Like To Keep Myself In Pain, finds her singing new songs that were written specifically for her by friends and collaborators like Andrew Bird, Vic Chesnutt, The Magnetic Fields, and lots more.
