Though they're not particularly well known, The Spinto Band have been regulars on the indie-rock scene since the mid-'90s, almost striking gold with the super-catchy single "Oh Mandy" back in 2005. For Undercover Summer Break, they dipped into a deep well of summer songs and came up with Chris Stamey's "Summer Sun," a beautiful ditty that sounded even more beautiful performed in the hot sunshine on the historic Goodman Theatre's outdoor deck. The theatre was just finishing up an acclaimed run of The Iceman Cometh, starring Brian Dennehy, and a bunch of the staff--special thanks to Amanda--came out to watch The Spinto Band do their thing. Some of the guys in the band were lucky enough to meet Phylicia "Claire Huxtable" Rashad on the way out of the building. Sadly, we did not ask her to chime in on the song.
