The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die’s debut full-length Whenever, If Ever brought the Connecticut band attention outside of the D.I.Y. scene with which it had long been associated. Though its long name and large membership had become the default talking points when people mentioned The World Is…, its anthemic songs and pummeling live show quickly changed the conversation. The band dropped by for this year’s Holiday Undercover series and made the classic “What Child Is This?” its own, with swells of effects and interlocking guitars building toward something decidedly more dystopian than cheery. For those hoping to catch The World Is… live, it has plenty of shows lined up in the new year, most of which find it serving as main support for Into It. Over It. before embarking on its first European tour with Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate). Enjoy.
