Welcome back to Pioneering, our new video (and event) series. We’re happy that some of you made it out to the shoots, and here we present the next fruits of our labor: Sharon Van Etten paying tribute to Bruce Springsteen. Above you’ll find two videos—the first a sort of documentary-style discussion about the band, their influence, and the particular song that Van Etten chose to cover, “Drive All Night.” The second video is the band’s full performance of the song, recorded live at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey—where Bruce himself cut his teeth. And throughout you’ll find our host, Eef Barzelay, asking questions and hanging out with A.V. Clubbers. New episodes will arrive every Monday until we’re done. Thanks for watching, and please check out the Pioneering social hub for bonus footage and other extras. Sharon Van Etten’s new album, Are We There, will be released May 27, and it’s available for pre-order now at your favorite music retailer.
