Welcome to Pioneering, our new video (and event) series. We’re happy that some of you made it out to the first series of shoots, and here we present the first fruits of our labor: The Mountain Goats paying tribute to the Ramones. Above you’ll find two videos—the first a sort of documentary-style discussion about the band, their influence, and the particular song that The Mountain Goats chose to cover, “Danny Says.” The second video is the band’s full performance of the song, recorded live at Bowery Electric, which is just down the block from the former CBGB. And throughout you’ll find our host, Eef Barzelay, asking questions and hanging out with A.V. Clubbers. This is the first of eight episodes, to air every Monday until we’re done. Thanks for watching, and please check out the Pioneering social hub for bonus footage and other extras.
