Getting picked up in an Uber or a Lyft always involves a low-stakes gamble for whether or not there will be any good music to listen to during your ride, but a driver who goes by @TEEJUS___ on Twitter recently revealed his secret trick to making riders happy. Apparently, he has compiled 11 masterful Spotify playlists designed to appeal to specific people, so when someone enters his car, he quickly and quietly profiles them and then puts on the appropriate playlist.
There’s something here for virtually everyone, whether they’re a “heady bro,” a “basic 20-30s,” a “fucking hipster,” or even a “white dude who looks like they like rap.” The playlists mostly seem really solid, even if “In The Aeroplane Over The Sea” is a little mainstream for a playlist called “fucking hipsters” (it’s basically the “Stairway To Heaven” of indie rock), and it turns out that his talent for playlists extends past his 11 Uber/Lyft rider sets.
TEEJUS’ Spotify page also includes a thoroughly curated collection of Sufjan Stevens tracks and a playlist called “best of the best” that is nothing but Fall Out Boy. That one might not be one of his Uber playlists, but you can probably count on TEEJUS to put on some real From Under The Cork Tree deep cut if a true “best of the best” hops into his car.
Here’s “White Dudes Who Look Like They Like Rap.”
