30 Rock makes cash register sound
So why do networks have the patience to stick with critically beloved shows that don’t necessarily translate into ratings bonanzas? Today’s news provides your answer: NBC’s 30 Rock, which actually enjoyed a slick uptick in viewings for its most recent season, has hit the syndication jackpot. WGN America and Comedy Central have agreed to carry the show on weekdays to the combined total of about $800,000 per episode. It’s unclear whether this will translate into fewer bags of Sabor De Soledad for Tina Fey and her cohorts, but it’s a big score for the show, the production company, and the usually hapless NBC Universal family. Episodes are scheduled to begin airing in fall 2011.
