Though it got overshadowed by some other big news story a few days later, the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series last year is still one of the most important events in human history. Literally everyone on the planet put aside their differences and banded together to show their support for the team (which hadn’t won a World Series in over a century), and when they got the final out, millions of people went on Facebook and wrote the same deeply personal story about their grandfather who died before seeing the Cubs win. Surely nobody will ever forget where they were when this historical event happened, but now a movie is in the works that will eternally memorialize it nonetheless.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is based on former Cubs catcher David Ross’ upcoming memoir, which is titled Teammate: My Journey In Baseball And A World Series For The Ages. Though the book touches on “important moments” from Ross’ career, it largely revolves around Game 7 of the 2016 World Series—Ross’ final game before he retired and the one where the Cubs won the championship for the first time since 1908. The movie will be titled Teammate: My Life In Baseball, which actually sounds a bit too boring for something this monumentally important to mankind, and it will be written by Ram Getz and John Corcoran.
