Aaron Freeman steps away from Ween for first solo album, Marvelous Clouds
On April 10, the artist also known as Gene Ween will release Marvelous Clouds, a tribute album to the songwriter and poet Rod McKuen, whose songs have been recorded by everyone from Waylon Jennings to Perry Como to Madonna. Released under Gene's non-Boognish-sanctioned name Aaron Freeman, Marvelous Clouds was produced by Ben Vaughn, who last worked with Freeman on Ween's classic 1996 country excursion, 12 Golden Country Greats. Hopefully this solo record means that Freeman is presently in good health, in spite of recent reports to the contrary. Ween has not released an album since 2007's La Cucaracha.
Here is a short trailer that was posted on YouTube to promote Marvelous Clouds.
