AMC gives series order to its Preacher adaptation
Considering how long AMC has been talking about its adaptation of the Preacher comic series, you might think it had already been picked up for a few seasons of violent, profanity-filled cowboy adventures. But no, up until now the show has simply been in development as a pilot, though a series did seem like a safe bet.
Well, hopefully you already made that bet, because Deadline is reporting that AMC has finally and officially given Preacher a series order, locking it in for at least one season, most likely 10 episodes long. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are executive producers on Preacher, and Rogen announced the news himself on Twitter alongside a rad promotional image that foreshadows the tone of the story:
The Preacher comic was created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, and focused on a disillusioned preacher named Jesse Custer who gets supernatural powers. There’s also a vampire and a guy called Assface/Arseface (depending on where you’re from). The adaptation is set to premiere at some point in May 2016.
