Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Monday, June 4. All times are Eastern.
Dietland (AMC, 9 p.m.): This adaptation comes from Marti Noxon, features the return of Julianna Margulies, and is based on Sarai Walker’s incisive satire, all of which speak well for it. But in her forthcoming review, Gwen Ihnat suggests we take this new AMC drama with a solid helping of salt (which is against doctor’s orders, but okay, Gwen). Apparently, something vital is lost in the translation, or rather, something unnecessary was picked up on the way to the small screen: “While certainly an intriguing theme, the show’s various interweaving conspiracies and plot machinations only serve to muddle its main story.” It sounds like Plum’s (Joy Nash) story is the real meat of Dietland, but you’ll have to watch this two-hour premiere to judge for yourselves.
Supergirl (The CW, 8 p.m.)
Unapologetic With Aisha Tyler (AMC, 11 p.m.): If this is the first step toward Aisha Tyler taking over as the preeminent host of after-show talk shows, we’re here for it.
