And here's your official Star Wars: Episode VII cast
Like a spacecraft leaping into the hyperdrive of just getting it over with already, Star Wars: Episode VII has officially put to rest our remaining hours of speculation and announced its cast. StarWars.com posted the above photo showing everyone at today’s table read in London, along with the following list of principals: Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, and Kenny Baker are all there, along with new additions to the saga Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, and John Boyega—all of whom have been previously rumored. Also joining the cast—and somehow more or less kept secret all this time—are Max von Sydow, Domnhall Gleeson, and Daisy Ridley, as well as Andy Serkis, whom we’ll just assume is playing every single alien.
As you can see, R2-D2 is also just sort of sitting there in a crate, waiting to fetch someone a drink or lightsaber. Meanwhile, Peter Mayhew seems to be the only one closely studying his script, committing every “Waaauuuggghhhh” to memory.
“We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud,” Abrams said in a statement that doesn’t even mention the thousands of blog voices that he’s cruelly silenced by robbing us of our speculative casting reports.
Anyway, that’s who will be in the new Star Wars movie.
