André 3000 is pretty meh on returning to OutKast and music in general

The OutKast reunion that fans have been hoping to see for years and years is now looking more unlikely than ever, as André 3000 now seems to believe that making music is kind of a chore. Speaking with Complex (via Pitchfork), André said that he’s pretty much over the whole scene, and he doesn’t feel like dealing with the stress and work that putting out music entails. “I kind of like not being a part of [rap], now that I’ve done it,” he says, adding that he thinks he’ll move away from “the hustle and bustle of putting out an album” now that he’s getting older. “When I was 25, I said I don’t want to be a 30-year-old rapper,” he says. “I’m 42 now, and I feel more and more that way.”

André says he’d like to think of music as more of a hobby, and that also applies to any hypothetical work with OutKast. He claims to be “totally fine with that” if he and Big Boi never make another album, as he’d rather be focused on figuring out what he’s doing 10 years from now. That being said, he’s still totally happy to pop up on other people’s songs. He says he has a tendency to waste time “sitting around twiddling my thumbs” when he’s by himself, but “there’s a kind of certain magic when you work with other people.”
