Ant-Man and Black Panther also join Civil War, because everyone has to

At this point it’s looking more and more likely that every single actor alive will be drafted into service on Captain America: Civil War. On Tuesday, we reported Martin Freeman has been roped into the project, a man who had already escaped the horrors of war not once, but twice. If men who have never previously been anywhere near a Marvel superhero tussle are getting conscripted, there’s clearly no hope for those who are already recruited into the MCU. So it’s no surprise that Variety reports Ant-Man and Black Panther, two superheroes whose films are not even out (or filmed yet, in the latter case), will both be appearing in the Russo Brothers’ second Captain America film.

Paul Rudd and Chadwick Boseman, who play Ant-Man and Black Panther, respectively, will be reporting for duty in the film, which has already begun principal photography in Atlanta. The movie involves a fracturing of the superhero world, presumably initiated when Hawkeye makes an insufficient apology to Black Widow after calling her a slut. Which makes sense, because civil wars are never pretty. As Guns N’ Roses reminds us in their classic song, “Civil War“: “Look at the hate we’re breeding/Look at the fear we’re feeding/Look at the argument between Iron Man and Captain America/The way we’ve always done before.”
