Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tic Tac both rush to distance themselves from Donald Trump
A day after audio was leaked, revealing Donald Trump’s self-granted entitlement to physically harass any woman he happens to meet on the basis that he’s a “star,” a number of prominent people are working very hard to distance themselves from the candidate’s remarks. Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence, and his wife, Melania, have both called the comments offensive, and former candidate Senator John McCain has formally pulled his support.
Meanwhile, in the world of non-schadenfreude-based entertainment, the man who’s set to replace Trump as the host of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice has also vocally shunned his reality TV predecessor. Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger released a statement on Twitter today, announcing, “For the first time since I became a citizen in 1983, I will not vote for the Republican candidate for President.” Schwarzenegger’s statement avoids mentioning Trump by name, instead simply reminding Republicans that “It is not only acceptable to choose your country over your party—it is your duty.”
