R.I.P. Rick Derringer, rocker behind “Rock And Roll, Hoochie Koo”
Rick Derringer is dead. Known for “Hold On Sloopy,” “Rock And Roll, Hoochie Coo” and Hulk Hogan’s theme song, “Real American,” Derringer was a Zelig of the liner notes, playing guitar for an array of artists, including with Johnny and Edgar Winter, Bette Middler, Meat Loaf, Cyndi Lauper, Barbra Streisand, and “Weird Al” Yankovic. Derringer was 77.
