The logline for the new show (via Variety) reads, “When a ‘Real Housewife’ takes off her stilettos and steps into a real housewife’s shoes, all bets are off as two of entertainment’s most iconic franchises are mashed up leading to laugh-out-loud moments, personal epiphanies and an opportunity to see if the grass is truly greener.” Frankly, it’s a premise so obvious it’s a wonder it hasn’t been done before. Of course, “women from very different households trading places” is baked into the show’s original concept, but in this case it allows Bravo to draw from its increasingly large roster of stars and utilize them in an entirely new format.
Wife Swap wasn’t the only kind-of-new-but-sort-of-old show announced on Wednesday. Bravo is also combining The Valley, a Vanderpump Rules offshoot (which is itself a Housewives offshoot) with Shahs Of Sunset in The Valley: Persian Style, with Shahs stars Reza Farahan, Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi and Mercedes “MJ” Javid all set to return. (Shahs has been on hiatus since 2022, while The Valley is currently airing its second season.) The network is also reviving Ladies Of London, which has been off the air since 2017, with a new cast (separate from the previously announced Real Housewives Of London). Finally, Bravo also announced an additional Housewives franchise, Real Housewives Of Rhode Island, marking the reality giant’s first entry into New England.
Bravo also announced several renewals: Below Deck Med, Below Deck Down Under, Married To Medicine, Southern Charm, Southern Hospitality, The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, The Real Housewives Of Orange County, The Real Housewives Of Potomac, and The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City. Toxic workplace accusations have not slowed down the gravy train at all—it’s still good to be in the Bravo business.
