Bryan Singer announces either impending X-Men: Apocalypse or actual apocalypse
Amid talk of Fox prepping both a sequel to James Mangold’s The Wolverine and an X-Force movie, director Bryan Singer has added another X-Men film to the humming franchise machine. “#Xmen #Apocalypse 2016!” Singer tweeted this afternoon, which was followed by the official announcement of a May 27, 2016 release date. Obviously, not much else is known about the movie, because this is a tweet. Indeed, two of the words are hashtags, and therefore not actual words. It is believed, however, that the film’s title will be X-Men: Apocalypse, and that it will either find the mutant group squaring off against the powerful supervillain Apocalypse, as seen in the Age Of Apocalypse storyline of the 1990s, or some other, yet-to-be-determined, actual apocalypse. It is also possible that Bryan Singer was just trying to drum up excitement for X-Men: Days Of Future Past by reminding us we’re just over two years away from the apocalypse, so we’d better enjoy our little superhero movies while we can.
