Former Little Rascal turned "Catholic extremist" asks for help raising sixth child

Bug Hall played Alfalfa in the 1994 The Little Rascals theatrical film before largely quitting the business in 2020.

Former Little Rascal turned

Few in Hollywood have it tougher than child stars. So perhaps it’s not that surprising that former actor Bug Hall, who led the 1994 The Little Rascals ensemble as the squeaky voiced, cowlick-sporting Alfalfa, has gone on to have some—let’s call them “extreme” views as he’s aged out of cute kid roles. In a post on crowdfunding site GoFundMe, the former actor (whose real name is Brandon Rowan) explained that he, his wife, and his soon-to-be six children are in need of financial support to continue what he calls his “Catholic extremist” lifestyle.

“It’s now six years since I self-cancelled,” Hall states, “and I have avoided doing one of these in all that time. I always said this was my choice, and so I didn’t want to offload the glorious burden of it unless there was no other choice. Well here we are.” As People reports, “Here” in a geographical sense at least, is the Hall clan’s rustically unadorned 80-acre compound in Mountain View, Arkansas, where his wife Jill DeGroff is expecting their sixth child next month. And while Hall has touted his “off-the-grid” existence away from show business’ corrupting influence, he does note that at least some of the money raised will go toward keeping up his often controversial social media presence via much needed phone and electricity.

How controversial Hall’s views have become will be a matter of opinion, naturally, although the former Atlas Shrugged: Part II actor (who’s also termed himself a “medieval moralist”) has emerged from the woods periodically to claim that only his first born male son is his “heir,” while his daughters will serve as “dishwashers.” Hall’s also gone on the expected fundamentalist rants against abortion rights and homosexuality, proudly touted corporal punishment of his children starting in infancy, and discouraged his homeschooled kids from even thinking about going to college.

Despite his “self-cancellation” and proclaimed vow of poverty, Hall did give himself dispensation to appear in the 2024 Angel Studios’ Catholic missionary biopic Cabrini (which was shot in 2021). He also is a credited screenwriter for the 2020 Selena Gomez-produced teen comedy This Is The Year and has appeared in films like 2009’s American Pie Presents: The Book Of Love and TV shows from Masters Of Sex to Castle and Major Crimes.
