Captain America: The Winter Soldier gets a synopsis, cargo pants
Production began today on Captain America: The Winter Soldier—just in time for spring—and to commemorate the official end of preproduction speculation, Marvel has released a synopsis to kick off middle-of-production speculation. The Anthony and Joe Russo-directed sequel will pick up where The Avengers left off, with Captain America still learning to cope with the modern world and all its many confusing cell phone plans. Unfortunately, the Captain won’t have much time to decide which data usage package is best for him, because he’s immediately recruited to pair with Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow to “battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in Washington, D.C.” that we’ll just go ahead and assume is apathy.
In between doling out inspirational speeches about democracy and kicks to the head, he’ll come into contact with Emily VanCamp’s Agent 13—a younger relative of Haley Atwell’s character, who will also be back—as well as Robert Redford’s senior S.H.I.E.L.D. leader, plus Anthony Mackie as Falcon and returning players Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, and of course, Samuel L. Jackson. Plus, as you can tell from the above first leaked image, he gets some cargo pants. Everyone can find a use for cargo pants.
