Charles Dance Charles Dances around his future on Game Of Thrones
In a video he prefaces by saying he’s “trying very hard not to have any spoilers,” Charles Dance otherwise displays a completely uncharacteristic air of untrustworthiness for loving father Tywin Lannister, dropping cryptic hints about his character’s future on Game Of Thrones. Asked whether he regrets not being part of the show’s fifth season after what he calls Tywin’s “ignominious end” (presumably taking the traditional British meaning of “ignominious” as “on the loo”), Dance suggests that he’ll be back. “I’m not completely missing out on the next series. More than that I’m not going to say. You haven’t seen the last of Tywin Lannister is all I’ll say,” Dance tells MTV, already saying plenty.
Naturally, this has all led to speculation—supported by other recent casting rumors—that the show may delve into flashback for the first time, and that Dance could perhaps return as a younger, hipper Tywin, possibly wearing that exact same Rolling Stones shirt. Others believe that he’s just referring to Tywin’s funeral, and that we’ll see Dance’s corpse being flushed somberly while people struggle to say nice things about him and Rudy demands to go watch television. And still others believe that Tywin will return as a wisecracking ghost, haunting Tyrion’s every attempt at lovemaking. “Guess I’m not the only one who got caught with his pants down!” Ghost Tywin will jeer, but Tywin can’t do anything about it because he’s a ghost. Really, any of these scenarios is equally worth arguing about for the next seven months or so.
