Much like any band with a name that can be perceived as particularly provocative, Coke Weed’s had to overcome easy dismissals in order to prove itself as a top tier psych-pop act. On October 6 Beyond Beyond Is Beyond Records will release the band’s fourth album, Mary Weaver, and the The A.V. Club is streaming “Dead Man Walking” below. The track finds Coke Weed putting the emphasis on its poppiest elements, making “Dead Man Walking” the perfect accompaniment for any trip to the beach or other assorted summer escapades. Vocalist Nina Donghia cuts through the washed out reverb to prove that even as the band ages it is no less potent.
