Dolly Parton gets a replacement star on Walk Of Fame after vandalism

Joke’s on them, though, as the vandalism incident—which reportedly happened on the night of Monday, August 31, just a few days after Parton’s death on August 25—has now led to Parton getting a brand new star on the famed sidewalk display. (Her original star, granted in 1984, was showing its age a bit, and, per Variety, reportedly had a crack in it.) A producer for the Walk Of Fame, which is administered by Hollywood’s Chamber Of Commerce, issued a statement on Friday declaring that, “Our Dolly is back! Hollywood is thrilled that her star is back in pristine condition for fans to enjoy forever.” The star is reportedly already fully restored and visible and available for people who can’t read the dang room right now to walk all over.

Earlier this week, Parton’s estate rolled out a more concerted effort to get tributes to her organized, including a pair of “Parties Of A Lifetime” called DollyFest that it intends to hold in Nashville and London in 2027. Plans are also moving forward for a musical about her life, titled Dolly: A True Original Musical, to land on Broadway some time before 2026 is out. Both the musical and the Nashville version of DollyFest were in the works, with Parton’s participation, before her death; they’ve now transitioned into being full tributes celebrating her life.
