DVD/BD Release List – 2/22/11
You could blow your entire Blu-ray budget for the month just on this week’s Criterion offerings, which include the vivid British drama Fish Tank, the sensuous Luchino Visconti historical epic Senso, and the punchy American masterpiece Sweet Smell Of Success. (Reviews of the latter two coming to our DVD review section soon.) But there are plenty other titles of note this week too: the Blu-ray edition of Christopher Nolan’s breakthrough thriller Memento; the latest so-bad-it’s-good favorite Birdemic: Shock And Terror; the engaging culinary documentary Kings Of Pastry; the complete run of the excellent, under-watched ABC Family series Huge; a boxed set of the Swedish Dragon Tattoo trilogy; and more. It’s also a big week for animation fans. Which’ll it be? The feature-length adaptation of Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s All-Star Superman? Or the Rankin-Bass oddity The Last Unicorn? Don’t make up your mind until you hear the latter’s America-sung theme song:
