In an extended aside about Sheeran’s apparently habitual collecting of high-profile movie memorabilia, the singer and onetime Lannister soldier told the hosts about his favorite pieces, including the infamously form-fitting and anatomically prominent Bat-suits from 1997’s widely derided Batman & Robin. Boasting, with the merest hint of nerd-sheepishness, that the Joel Schumacher-directed superhero laughingstock remains his favorite of all the Batman films, Sheeran also claims that the movie’s low status rendered the Batman, Robin and Batgirl suits relatively inexpensive. (Although “inexpensive” for a multi-platinum recording artist is difficult to gauge.)
In addition, Sheeran happily explained that he owns the robot teddy bear from A.I. (although that was a gift), the original Jumanji board game, and both Joe Pesci’s knife from the opening scene of Goodfellas and the equally menacing sword wielded by Dan Basco’s Rufio in 1991’s Hook. Calling Hook and Jumanji star Robin Williams “my guy,” Sheeran also confessed to at least once trying on Williams’ Hook costume in the privacy of his own home, although it now resides respectfully in a display case. No word at present whether Sheeran also took either George Clooney, Chris O’Donnell or Alicia Silverstone’s form-fitting hero-wear out for a test run at any point.
