Edgar Wright keeps signing up to direct more stuff
Clearly angling to join the exclusive fraternity of Sam Raimi, Guillermo del Toro, and Ridley Scott—where members are required to attach themselves to as many projects as they can while chugging a beer—Edgar Wright has signed on to direct the upcoming Collider for J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot production company. Like most Abrams-associated projects, it's cloaked in a secrecy that will inevitably make its revelation a little underwhelming, but Deadline does report that it's a sci-fi story from Mark Protosevich, whose credits include I Am Legend and Spike Lee's upcoming Oldboy remake (though this, of course, tells you absolutely nothing). It's also not clear yet where the film will fit into Wright's busy schedule, considering he's already lined up The World's End with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, the recently confirmed Ant-Man movie, and The Night Stalker with Johnny Depp, all ostensibly for within the next year or so. But in the meantime, at least the Collider script will provide some extra padding during his frat's nightly "Screenplay Sumo-Suit" competitions—and going up against del Toro, he'll need it.
