Elvis Costello to play Samantha Bee’s Correspondents’ Dinner after-party

For months now, there have been concerns that this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner is just going to plain suck, even though the president isn’t actually going to attend this year. (Instead, he’s going to Philadelphia.) You can’t really blame journalists for wanting to sit this one out, since the current administration has been so openly hostile against them. Luckily, Full Frontal With Samantha Bee is stepping up this year, offering a haven for members of the free press in the form of the Not The White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

We don’t really know what’s going to happen at the alternative dinner party, but there’s now a less than zero chance that we’ll miss out—Elvis Costello and the Imposters will play at the W Hotel POV Rooftop right after the dinner wraps. Proceeds from the dinner’s ticket sales will go to the Committee To Protect Journalists. So if you’d like to be an American without tears, tune in to TBS on April 29 at 10 p.m. Eastern.
