Exclusive Marvel preview: Avengers Undercover #8 has a new artist and a three-month time jump

Dennis Hopeless’ Avengers Undercover has been a tense exploration of teenage morality and responsibility, looking at how severe emotional and physical trauma has pushed a group of young heroes to the dark side. Sadly, the series is ending with next month’s #10, but there’s still plenty of drama to be wrung from this story—and it only intensifies next week with a three-month time jump.

For the final issues, artist Tigh Walker joins the creative team, bringing edgy, inky artwork brimming with attitude and atmosphere. It all really pops thanks to Jean-Francois Beaulieu’s vivid coloring, and keeping Beaulieu on the creative team has made for a seamless shift from former artist Kev Walker to Tigh.

A relative newcomer to the industry, Tigh Walker is about to make a big splash judging by these preview pages from next week’s Avengers Undercover #8. He exhibits an attention to character storytelling that makes him a perfect fit for a book about damaged young adults, capturing the wide scope of emotions felt by this group as they walk the line between good and evil.
